US President nominated Maj. Gen. Michael Guetlein as the first field commander of the United States Space Force, announced by Lloyd Austin. He has been serving as deputy director of the National Reconnaissance Office.
This cased will be forwarded to the U.S. Senate, after confirmation, Guetlein would receive a third star and lead the command in its first standup later this summer. The position is tasked with overseeing the U.S. Space Force’s acquisition and launch services.
